In Their Words: As an ESE teacher, I have taken particular notice of the varying calibers of students of a wide range of physical and mental capabilities who are equally encouraged in this dojang to do their best. I personally experienced a physical setback, which kept me away from Tang Soo Do for about 4 months (4 fractured metatarsals). However, I was kept in the loop by Alvas, Sa Bom Nim himself, whose caring and concern and teaching extended beyond the dojo. His Kind words kept me motivated to return and to "do what I can".

Since that time, there has been a lot of compensation for what I refer to as "my ugly left foot."

I look around and see a lot of what I call "youthful wisdom". These teachers here are young enough and wise enough to believe in their own limitlessness in their training. They are sharp enough to spread it around so the students can always improve and push their zone of capability up a notch.

The leadership training is something I've never seen before. I certainly look forward to watching some of the girls go though the course and come into their own as Tang Soo Do teachers. I could go on and on extolling the virtues of this Tang Soo Do dojang, but I have to go to class now. I wouldn't want to be late and do 25 push-ups. You know how strict they are.

In Their Words: The training was transformative for me in many ways: First, as a 62 year old male who is afraid of things like strokes and heart attacks, being outdoors was a fear provoking event especially since it was in the high 80s and 90s that day. I saw how this was how I was weak on the inside in the fears and strong on the outside through my defensiveness..reversing this took much hydration ( almost 4 litres ) and calm deliberation. I felt myself become strong on the inside.."yes I can..with care, caution and patience". Being more and more in the moment, as you all have taught me, I was able to move through the day. Everything that I learned that day from USK Karate brought to the fore possibilities for existence that are on a level beyond my previous tendencies and expectations and fears! Thank you USK Karate!
